O objetivo central deste estudo à investigar o potencial da telenovela brasileira para constituir um espaÃo alternativo de divulgaÃÃo cientÃfica. Para desenvolvÃ-lo, foi seguida a metodologia proposta pela AnÃlise CrÃtica do Discurso (ACD), cuja concepÃÃo tridimensional de discurso como prÃtica discursiva, prÃtica social e texto, aponta para investigaÃÃo de um dizer nÃo sà na materialidade das palavras, mas tambÃm nas condiÃÃes de produÃÃo e no contexto que influencia sua significaÃÃo. Foram analisados capÃtulos de duas telenovelas da Rede Globo de TelevisÃo â Barriga de Aluguel e O Clone â exibidas, respectivamente, no comeÃo e no final da dÃcada de 1990. A escolha pelas duas produÃÃes, ambas da autora GlÃria Perez, se deve à centralidade com que abordaram assuntos cientÃficos, inaugurando a criaÃÃo de personagens e situaÃÃes ligadas à CiÃncia como ingrediente de sucesso de uma trama de ficÃÃo. Seguindo a recomendaÃÃo da ACD, o percurso da pesquisa inclui a focalizaÃÃo do gÃnero telenovela com o objetivo de detectar aspectos relevantes de produÃÃo e consumo. A realizaÃÃo de um levantamento de matÃrias que trataram de CiÃncia no perÃodo de exibiÃÃo das duas telenovelas, publicadas nas revistas de informaÃÃes geral, tem o intuito de verificar se o discurso circulante na sociedade sobre CiÃncia ajuda a identificar possÃveis pontos de convergÃncia. O estudo de cenas que as duas produÃÃes levaram ao ar aponta para alguns pontos importantes: ao mesmo tempo em que à inegÃvel o serviÃo prestado pela ficÃÃo em fazer circular informaÃÃes sobre CiÃncia, inclusive tornando-as mais compreensivas para o pÃblico leigo e aumentando a confianÃa sobre os procedimentos tecnolÃgicos; hà tambÃm o perigo de contribuir para uma imagem demasiado negativa do cientista, retratado como uma pessoa inescrupulosa em uma das tramas e, na outra, como alguÃm cujos atos sÃo motivados primordialmente pela vaidade
The main objective of this study is to invetigate the brazilian soap opera potencial for constructing an alternative space for scientific divulgation. On itâs development, it was used the methodology proposed by AnÃlise CrÃtica do Discurso â ACD (Critical Analysis of Speech), whose tridimensional concept of speech as a discursive practice, social practice and text, points to the investigation of a saying not only on the materiality of the words, but also on production conditions and on the contexture that influences itâs signification. Chapters of two Rede Globoâs soap operas were analyzed: Barriga de Aluguel and O Clone. Those productions, both from author GlÃria Perez, were chosen because of their central approach of scientific affairs, initiating the creation of characters and situations connected to science as an ingredient for the plotâs success. Following ACDâs recommendation, the research includes focusing on the soap operaâs genus objectifying the detection of relevant aspects regarding production and consumption. A survey of topics about science, published on general magazines, during the exhibition of both soap operas, has the purpose of verifying if the speech about science, on society, helps identifying possible convergency points. The study of scenes that both productions exhibited, points to some important matters: on the same hand that fiction renders undeniable services publishing information about science, even making it comprehensible to the lay public, increasing the trust on technological procedures; it can also contribute to the development of an excessive negative image of the scientist, shown as an unscrupulous person in one of the plots and, on the other, as someone driven mainly by vanity |
