Entre 1959 e 1963, Alex Viany publicou, na revista Senhor, uma série de ensaios, artigos e críticas sobre o cinema estrangeiro e nacional. O objetivo desta pesquisa é a recuperação dessa produção intelectual e que se encontra arquivada nessa revista. O estudo desenvolve-se a partir da percepção da Senhor como um repositório do pensamento específico sobre o cinema no início dos anos 60 no Brasil. Analisa-se, de uma maneira geral, a inserção da revista no seu tempo e a sua representatividade cultural para os leitores da época e, exclusivamente, pelo recorte do cinema, os textos sobre cinema de arte estrangeiro e nacional de Alex Viany. Este crítico cinematográfico apresenta-se como o autor mais freqüente nos 60 números pesquisados e o seu pensamento, até praticamente a metade das revistas publicadas, determinou a orientação do periódico quanto ao cinema. Assim, a proposta da revista Senhor de tornar o seu leitor mais sofisticado e cosmopolita teve Alex Viany como colaborador, que se incumbiu de (in)formar o leitor para entender e apreciar o cinema de arte.
From 1959 until 1963, Alex Viany published essays, articles and reviews about foreign and Brazilian cinema in the Senhor magazine. This dissertation intends to explore his intellectual productions in terms of referencing this particular magazine as an authority on cinema thought at the beginning of the 1960`s in Brazil. In general, Senhor will be considered for its cultural value in its time. More specifically, the foreign and national cinema texts by Alex Viany will be grouped and analyzed. Senhor magazine published more cinema reviews by Alex Viany during the 1960s than by any other reviewer. As a result, his thought determined the periodical`s orientation about cinema productions. Senhor`s goal of moving its readership towards sophisticated thought and cosmopolitan ideas was enhanced by Alex Viany`s contributions in educating the public on the art of cinema. |
